Put happiness first

Should activities be age appropriate if they bring you calm or happiness?

This art was created to show a parent and child waiting to take their turn in the ball pond, choosing not to join the Autistic adult in there having fun. You can see the judgement on the parent’s face.

The autistic person is enjoying herself and her Mum is enjoying seeing this but is also aware of the other parent’s thoughts. Her feelings are now torn between the joy of watching her child be happy and the sadness of knowing she is being judged.

Inspired by: Parents & Carers.
