Thursday 19th June 2025 was amazing day...We celebrated Learning Disability week, the theme was 'Do You See Me?' which I think means, when people look at you, they see the outside of you, but not the inside you.
Louise from Wirral Council Communications visited us for the first time to see our art exhibition. Louise chatted to Helen, the team and some of the members, and she had an imporatnt job for someone, so I was pleased that she asked me. The job was to answer questions, as she wanted to write about Happy Times on the Wirral Council website. Why do you come to Happy Times after 10 years? I told her the main reason that I can totally relax here. I also come for activities and to see my friends. After this we went around the garden to see the art exhibition and I was asked more questions, this time it was about the art. Which picture is your personal favourite? I love the one of the people in the ball pit called 'Put happiness first'. I love the story behind it too - You can view this yourself by clicking on the link: https://www.happytimesactivities.co.uk/lens-project/put-happiness-first
After lunch we had a local taxi company call in called Maize Transport. Helen is trying hard to improve the transport for people in our community and at the Centre, as she thinks it could be better. Myself and some other members chatted to the Maize team, who were all really nice and told us they were hoping to improve disability transport for us. Shaun shown me a disability step that he made, which makes it safer and easier for people to get in and out of taxis. I tested it and it was amazing and felt sturdy and safer than others I've been asked to use.
There was lots going on at Happy Times all this week, so I was glad to be here today and get so involved.
