Trying to find myself again I volunteered at Claire House, Wirral Mencap and with a Dementia Care provider. I also qualified as a SEN Adults and Children's Yoga teacher.
I used to visit people to provide relaxation and it was very successful. I went on to create a professional service that integrated tailored benefits with uplifting quality interactions and called it Happy Times. It was an exciting time and I was able to offer it to more people. My dream of making a difference had come true and it was because of my love for people and Yoga that Happy Times began making a significant difference.
A year later I had that many appointments I had no choice but to run it as an organisation. I recruited a team of like minded professionals and with this support we supported even more people. We moved into a community house in Bentinck St and within a year moved into our own site in Market Street, Birkenhead where we had 12 happy months but were struggling to accommodate everyone, so with the support from The Big Lottery in Jan 2017 we moved and opened up our very own Activity Centre in Moreton.
People ask me - How did you do it? The truthful answer is that it has been an enjoyable journey packed with amazing people that have kept me driven. The operational side has had it's difficulties and also special people that have supported and invested along the way and our amazing Directors do so much behind the scenes. I put our success down to the fact we are continually guided by you and your need. By providing services that are wanted makes everyone happy, and it's given our centre a truly magical home from home feel, which everyone that visits comments on.
