o here's Helen's story. I was made redundant around the same time as losing my lovely Dad. I didn't cope well with the shock or upset, so I ran away....to Thailand.
I returned a few months with a totally different outlook on life, what mattered and what I wanted from life now. I wanted to make a difference and needed to find myself again, so I volunteered at Claire House, Wirral Mencap and at a Dementia Care setting whist getting myself qualified as a SEN Adults and Children's Yoga teacher.
I began a service to help people to relax and it was very successful, so I went on to create a professional service that integrated tailored benefits with quality interactions and called it Happy Times.
It was an exciting time and I was able to offer it to more and more people. My dream of making a difference was coming true and it was because of my love for people and Yoga that Happy Times began making a significant difference.
A year or so later I had that many appointments I had no choice but to turn it into an Enterprise. I recruited a team of like minded professionals and with this support we began to support even more people. We moved into a community house in Bentinck St and within a year moved again, this time to our own building in Market Street, Birkenhead where we enjoyed 12 happy months - but in Jan 2017 we opened up our very own Activity Centre in Moreton.
People ask me - How did you do it? The truthful answer is that it has been an enjoyable journey packed with amazing people that have kept me driven. The operational side has had it's difficulties and also special people that have supported and invested along the way and our amazing Directors do so much behind the scenes. I put our success down to the fact we are continually guided by those we support and we are great listeners. Our centre is a truly magical home from home and everyone is always welcome.
